Brick Books
===========

Double-click Brick Books to start the program. Your web browser will open
automatically.

While Brick Books is running, it shows on your taskbar as Brick Books, with the
brick logo. Click it to open your books again or to quit.

Closing the browser tab does not stop Brick Books. To stop it, click Brick Books
on the taskbar and choose Quit Brick Books.

Open Brick Books More Quickly Next Time
---------------------------------------
Right-click Brick Books and choose:

Send to → Desktop (create shortcut)

On Windows 11, you may need to choose Show more options first.

You can also pin the shortcut to your taskbar or Start menu.

Where Your Files Live
---------------------
Your books are stored locally on this computer.

Brick Books program
The Brick Books Software folder you unzipped.

Receipts, backups, imports and end-of-financial-year packs
Stored in your Brick Books Documents folder.

Your books
Stored separately in your Windows user data and backed up through
    Data & Imports.

Your documents and books are deliberately kept separate from the program itself.
This means updating or replacing the Brick Books Software folder does not remove
your books or receipts.

First Time Using Brick Books?

It only takes a few minutes and covers the important basics, including:

    * your business details

    * when your financial year starts
    * where your money is held
    * sales tax settings, if they apply to you

You can change these settings later if you need to.

You can use your phone to send receipt photos into Brick Books, or set up access
to Brick Books itself from your phone.

Inside Brick Books, go to:

Licence & Help → Link Your Phone

Your Licence

Open Licence & Help and paste in the licence key from your purchase email.

Still deciding?
The free trial gives you the complete program. Nothing is held back during
    the trial.

Privacy
-------
Your main Brick Books database stays on your computer.

Some optional features, such as marketplace syncing, receipt reading, route
lookups, updates and problem reports, use internet services when you choose to use
them.

Brick Books explains these connections inside the program.

Need Help?
----------
Open:

    Report a Problem

Brick Books records technical problems there if something goes wrong, and you can
also describe anything that does not look right.

Nothing is sent automatically. Brick Books shows you what will be included before
you send a problem report.
